Ive beaten shogo so many times its not even funny. I know where every enemy is and every power up.....But i can not recommend spending your money on this unless you have an older machine that can run it or you want to download some programs that will help you run it. This is not optimized at all for Windows 10 at least. And i will say that no where on the store page does it say that it will run on your machine so i will give them that. The game is amazing and im proud to see it on steam....but until its been fixed to run on modern PCs then i would avoid this one for now.. when i click launch it just launches a black screen and wont load anything else. what should i do ?. I really wanted to play this game. Sadly after spending a day of trying to get it to just start up, I finally gave up. I requested a refund and it is the first game I've tried refunding. Hopefully I'll get a response and my money back. I am very dissapointed. Idk exactly who is at fault for this not working but it isn't me. I've gone through the forms and tried basicly all the tricks my computer is up to date and everything works fine, except this. It seems to be missing important launtch software and when and if you can get it to start the resolution and screan size reminds me of a funhouse mirror. I couldn't even get it to recognize my mouse, so any commands to try to controll, fix, or start up anything on a minue I had to use keybord commands/shortcuts etc... I am very upset that I was unable to enjoy this game. I hope Steam will refund my and possibly removes this game if these problems dont get fixed so others dont get baited into buying something unplayable like I seem to have done.. While some might be interested in Shogo for the nostalgic value, or perhaps you were just a fan of other Monolith titles like FEAR or NOLF, the fact remains that this game is a complete chore to get working on modern systems.While the more technologically inclined can get it working after 30 minutes to an hour of tinkering, piecing together all the downloads you need from various sources scattered throughout the internet, the average user isn't going to want to go through the trouble.dgVoodoo2, fixoltdll.dll, AM18.dll, WidescreenPatch.rez all required for modern hardware/OS setups. Even with all these fixes there are still issues, for example my mouse cursor is perma-stuck in the middle of the screen. This is a glitch I've yet to find a fix for and it has been reported multiple times on the GOG forums. Seriously, this game is almost 20 years old, it ain't gonna get patched any time soon! I've also heard (though I cannot confirm) that the game is a lost cause on any monitors with a refresh rate higher than 60hz.If you REALLY want to get your 2d hands on Shogo, pick it up on GOG. At least it's cheaper there.. Like I said with the Blood II review...Broken and unbalanced garbage. This game engine was a big mistake. But this is actually worse than Blood II. Yeah sure it's cool to fight in the giant mechs, but when your doing on-foot maps, its a complete unplayable mess without using cheats...It's really that bad.. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUEThis is not a review about the game itself, which was great when it came out - and probably still is.But this release is unacceptably garbage. Just trying to set display settings makes the launcher complaing about DirectX 6 not being on the system, and I should hope not! 😂Top bar is always visible in-game, when trying to set resolution in-game it glitched out and saidresolution 18356270788 x 544830049 😂😂😂Running the game also forced the Curse Client to install something called Directplay ?!But the worst part of all was when I played the game and died, the reload caused the game to crash directplay or something, game froze and I could not end the process in any way.And after rebooting my PC; nVidia Share froze for some reason.AND the text in all of my apps got really low resolution, grainy (even though my display settings were the same)So yeah...
